Exploring the Shepparton and Goulburn Valley, 26th – 27th Oct 2023

In partnership with the Greater Shepparton City Council, Business Events Victoria hosted a group of seven Melbourne based business event planners to explore Shepparton and Goulburn Valley region. The carefully curated itinerary showcased the region’s diverse offerings, blending cultural experiences, delicious food and wine, and top-notch accommodation.

The journey commenced at The Trawool Estate, offering a firsthand exploration of its conference and accommodation offerings. The group then savoured a delightful wine tasting experience at Fowles Wine, conveniently located within a short drive from The Trawool Estate. This was followed by a visit to the prestigious Mitchelton Wines where we were treated to a tasty 2-course lunch at The Muse. The exploration continued at the Museum of Vehicle Evolution (MOVE), offering a cool look into automotive history – a must see in Shepparton. The group then experienced the epitome of luxury at The Carrington Hotel, where the night was spent in the modern elegance of the Deluxe King Room. Dinner at the Shepparton Hotel Parklake was a culinary delight, setting the tone for an unforgettable day.

The second day commenced with visits to key venues, starting with Riverlinks Eastbank, Shepparton Showgrounds, and a return to Shepparton Hotel Parklake to explore the conference facilities and newly refurbished bedrooms. A cultural highlight awaited at Kaiela Arts Shepparton, an Aboriginal art center location on the ground floor of the Shepparton Art Museum (SAM). The group engaged in a hands-on Turtle Muster session, creating clay turtles guided by a Yorta Yorta artist. The studio space at Kaiela Arts serves as a platform for artists to blend traditional and contemporary techniques, fostering a deeper understanding of Aboriginal culture.  The Shepparton Art Museum proved to be a haven for art enthusiasts, offering a diverse collection with a focus on contemporary and Indigenous Australian Art. The exploration extended to the conference space known as Elsewhere at SAM, providing a unique backdrop for events.

With a diverse mix of Associations, corporate event planners and venue finding agencies, the group gained firsthand insights into the richness of products and unique offerings in the region. The showcase not only highlighted the potential for hosting exceptional business events, but also emphasised the cultural and artistic wealth in Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley.

Heartfelt appreciation goes to our destination partner, the Greater Shepparton City Council. Thank you for your unwavering support, ensuring the success of this familiarisation visit. Special appreciation is extended to Adam Hobson from Victorian Bus Charters, whose expertise in transportation ensured the group’s safe and seamless journey throughout the exploration.

In conclusion, the visit to Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley region was more than an event. It was a journey that unfolded the hidden gems of this remarkable region, leaving attendees inspired with ideas for their future business events.
