BlazeAid Australia is a volunteer-based organisation dedicated to supporting rural communities in Australia affected by natural disasters such as bushfires, floods, and cyclones. Founded in 2009 by Kevin and Rhonda Butler after the devastating Black Saturday bushfires, BlazeAid Australia has grown into a vital force for recovery and resilience.
The organisation works alongside farmers and families to rebuild fences and other structures damaged or destroyed by disasters. BlazeAid’s efforts not only restore physical infrastructure but also fosteor community spirit and emotional recovery. Volunteers from across Australia and around the world come together to lend a helping hand, creating a network of compassion and support.
BlazeAid Australia operates basecamps in affected areas, providing meals (and some accommodation) to volunteers, along with PPE, tools and equipment and fostering great friendships and camaraderie amongst farmers and volunteers alike! Each basecamp costs approximately $5,000 per week to run, with funds going back into local communities through purchases of food, fuel, and supplies. BlazeAid Australia has made a significant impact, clearing and rebuilding tens of thousands of kilometers of fencing across Australia, helping countless families regain stability.
BlazeAid’s mission is rooted in empathy, integrity, and community strength, making it a beacon of hope for those facing the aftermath of natural disasters
