Once so often, a business event so unique comes around and finds its perfect host in a natural regional Victorian setting.

The national symposium’s search, which began in May 2016, culminated in Eildon being chosen as the location and Holmesglen at Eildon hosting the three-day symposium in December 2017. The 650-delegate conference’s key selection criteria were unique venues in a remote location and spacious woody settings, and the 660-acre Holmesglen at Eildon fit the bill perfectly, being nestled between the picturesque Yarra Ranges and Victoria’s high country.

With coordination from Holmesglen at Eildon, the symposium utilised all available accommodation in town for overflow requirements, that saw local hotels, cabins, bed & breakfasts, and holiday parks full during the 4-day duration of the symposium.

The uniqueness of the symposium resulted in creative spaces being set up at Holmesglen at Eildon. Besides utilising the venue’s state-of-the-art conference facilities with capacity for up to 200 delegates, a large undercover area was also constructed for the event’s numerous outdoor workshops, accentuated by deck chairs and bean bags for seating.

A recreation precinct was set-up for a coffee shop networking area, the tennis court transformed into a market zone, and the oval became an additional outdoor workshop.

The symposium, being the largest business event hosted in Eildon to-date, a creative catering approach was undertaken with over 300 meal packages pre-purchased for delegates in addition to several food stalls set-up from local food producers and operators.   Located in the lush Goulburn River Valley, the region’s climate produces some of Victoria’s finest gourmet fare including trout, olives, jams, bread and more.

The symposium hosted a finale banquet dinner for all 650 delegates, a highlight to cap off a successful event that showcased a hidden gem of Victoria, and the coming together of the Eildon township to support it. As many speakers and attendees were international visitors, information packs were given to showcase the surrounds with 50% of guests staying the entire week.
